Questions and Answers

Festival of Sail
L.A. Maritime Museum In San Pedro

We've had a lot of questions sent our way via e-mail. The most frequently asked questions are posted here, along with our answers.

Q: What's the best place to see the Parade?

Answer: Point Fermin park at the end of South Gaffey Street in San Pedro. Also, Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro, located right on the Main Channel where the vessels will pass by and dock at the end of the parade.

Q: Can we see the ships coming down the coast?

Only of few of the participating ships are racing from San Francisco to San Pedro. You may see them here or there. Racing vessels will not likely be grouped together...it's a race, after all! Other vessels will be arriving from a variety of locations such as Newport, Long Beach, etc. The only place to see the assembled flotilla would be off Point Fermin or along the Main Channel at Ports O'Call Village.

Q: Where do we park?

There's ample free parking for the event at Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro. See a map. For viewing the vessels off shore at the start of the parade, Point Fermin park at the end of South Gaffey Street in San Pedro also has ample free parking.

Q: What vendors will be available?

Festival of Sail hats, shirts and other souvenirs will be available for purchase. Food and drink is readily available from a variety of restaurants...both "fast food" and fine dining...throughout Ports O'Call Village.
